Génération Mada, the French NGO Zazakely Sambatra, is a collective of young people, teachers and trainers, institutions, donors and technical partners who, since 2004, have been developing an original, modern and efficient approach in Madagascar.
OUR MISSION
For over two decades, Génération Mada has been working with determination to educate and empower young people in Madagascar, with a focus on sustainable development.
Its mission is to train and support the key players in the transformation process — in particular, educators and teachers — in direct contact with the younger generation.
By promoting their potential and consolidating their skills, Génération Mada contributes to the emergence of a generation aware of and committed to the major economic, social and environmental challenges of our time.
Today, we are demonstrating that our vision is not only necessary
but is becoming a reality.
OUR HISTORY
Today, Génération Mada is entering a major stage in its development. It is embracing a new identity, both in its name and in its vision, to express its ambitions more clearly : to empower new generations, throughout Madagascar, to take their future into their own hands.
The story of the association began in 2004, when its founder, Véronique de Bourgies, was traveling to Madagascar to adopt her two children, and was deeply moved by the living conditions of local families. Driven by a spirit of solidarity, Véronique created the association Zazakely Sambatra — meaning Happy Children — with the ambition of supporting malagasy children and their families.
Véronique tragically lost her life in the Paris attacks on November 13, 2015. In the face of this tragedy, her family and friends, gathered around her husband Stéphane, mobilized to perpetuate her commitment, with conviction and loyalty.
Our guiding principles
Draw inspiration from innovative educational/empowerment approaches that have proved their worth internationally.
Adapt them to local issues and specificities.
Deploy them in collaboration with local partners.
Our core values

We're all deeply optimistic, here on the Grande Île! Confident in the future, we believe in the power of action and progress as drivers of change.
RESPONSIBILITY
We are motivated by the desire to create a tangible impact, to foster the development of people, and to integrate risk management in order to guarantee the sustainability and quality of the value we generate.
EFFICIENCY
We anchor our actions in a dynamic of efficiency, continuous improvement and innovation, so that we can ourselves learn, iterate and constantly improve.
Acting together
We work every day to bring people together, federate them and build a collective movement, because we are convinced that the challenges we face require shared responses.
